Dog-friendly neighbourhoods
in Greater Victoria, BC
Moving to Victoria with a dog? Or just curious about which neighbourhood fits your lifestyle? We have lived, walked, and explored these areas with our dogs Ziggy and Sahara, and this is our honest take on what each one offers for dog owners.
Not all Victoria neighbourhoods are equal for dogs.
Some areas have off-leash beaches steps from your front door. Others are better for trail lovers who want forest hikes every morning. A few are ideal for puppy owners who need socialization spots nearby. We break it all down so you can find the right fit.
How We Researched This
Every neighbourhood profile is based on our own experience walking these streets with Ziggy (our 6-year-old Rottweiler) and Sahara (our 13-year-old Lab mix). We check off-leash signage, test trail accessibility for senior dogs, note water access and shade, and talk to local dog owners we meet along the way. We also cross-reference municipal bylaws, but regulations can change, so always check local signage and official city websites.
